There is something about a cozy living room that instantly makes a house feel like home. For me, my living room has always been my peaceful little sanctuary ~ a place where I can relax with coffee, cuddle with my pets, and enjoy the calming colors and comforting atmosphere that bring me so much joy.
One of my favorite colors in my home is teal. I absolutely love how rich, calming, and cozy it feels. It adds warmth without being overwhelming and creates such a peaceful atmosphere, especially when paired with soft blankets, warm lighting, textured pillows, and natural decor. Teal feels comforting to me in every season. It’s cozy during cold winters and fresh and calming during warmer months.
A short story about my deep teal sofa ~ I won it! I was running errands and shopping with my daughter, and we stopped into an open house in a quaint decor shop owned by my beautiful friend Deb ~ Deb, you know who you are! We put our names in the draw, had a few munchies, looked at all of her beautiful decor items, purchased a few, including some stunning glow balls about the size of my fist (they were teal glitter balls, teal of course!), then we left.
Later that day, after Deb closed up her store, she called me to tell me they drew my name for their grand prize ~ an absolutely beautiful teal sofa. The one in the photo! I love, love, love it.
Now the PROBLEM! Pebbles loves to scratch and decided that her favorite scratching post is my teal sofa, which I’ve had in my home for the past 4-5 years, unscathed. I instantly draped towels and blankets over the sofa, but that didn’t last. My new kitten loved to play with the towels and blankets dangling off the sides of the sofa, and the linens that were meant to protect my sofa, were always on the floor! So, thank you Amazon! I bought a deep teal stretch sofa cover, and I love it. No more messy blankets and towels on my sofa, and no more mess to pick up off the floor. Here is a photo of the slip cover today!
When I first purchased my teal sofa, I completely fell in love with it. It was one of those pieces that instantly transformed my living room. It made everything feel more elegant and inviting. Of course, as much as I love my sofa… little Pebbles also seemed to adore it.
Pebbles, my sweet black rescue kitten, has brought so much love, laughter, and personality into my life. She is playful, curious, energetic, and full of affection. Like most kittens, she also discovered very quickly that my expensive teal sofa made an excellent scratching post.
At first, I tried gently redirecting her to scratching pads and toys, but kittens will definitely keep you on your toes. After noticing a few tiny scratches beginning to appear on the sofa, I decided it was time to find a solution that would protect my furniture while still keeping my living room beautiful and cozy.
